MARISA C. GASPAR

Biography

Marisa C. Gaspar has a PhD in Anthropology since 2013 awarded by ISCTE-Lisbon University Institute. Her research focused on identity redefinitions of the Eurasian Macanese community, in Macao and Portugal, and its creole legacies deeply associated with kinship, language, heritage, food and commensality in the context of the Macao SAR. Her PhD thesis on Macanese identity and ambivalence was published in two books, first in Portuguese language, No Tempo do Bambu: Identidade e Ambivalência entre Macaenses (2015), and in English, which was published by the renowned international publisher Berghahn Books, Heirs of the Bamboo: Identity & Ambivalence among the Eurasian Macanese” (2020).
