Literary Theatre: “The Moment”

“To the future or to the past, to a time when thought is free, when men are different from one another and do not live alone— to a time when truth exists and what is done cannot be undone.” – George Orwell, “1984”
Comuna de Pedra’s literary theatre work “The Moment” was premiered in 2019. It is based on the famous literary works “1984” and “On Tyranny” as the basis of inspiration, using dance, interactive forums and theatre performances combined with video, discussion, real-time aerial filming, etc.. The piece aims to reveals how people in the city respond with their personal will under the same ideology, the ubiquitous collective consciousness, and the tangible and intangible social rules. Within the 60-minute performance, actors guide the audience to discuss and participate in various power games, thus leading them to face their own reality to choose and to be chosen at the moment of participation.
