Biography
Xu Xi is the author of 11 books, most recent among them the novel That Man in Our Lives, the collaborative essay collection Interruptions (with photography by David Clarke), Access: Thirteen Tales, and the novel Habit of a Foreign Sky, a finalist for the Man Asian Literary Prize. She has also edited four English-language anthologies of Hong Kong writers. Her forthcoming books include the memoir Elegy for HK and Insignificance: Stories of Hong Kong. She has taught for and directed MFA creative writing programmes in the US and Asia and now co-leads “Authors At Large”, which offers writing retreats and workshops internationally. An Indonesian-Chinese native of Hong Kong and a US citizen, Xu Xi divides her time between New York and Hong Kong.
