Wang Zumin

Biography

Wang Zumin, born in 1949 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, is a renowned Chinese picture book illustrator and a senior editor. He joined the Phoenix Juvenile and Children’s Publishing ltd. in 1984 and worked there until retirement. From 2014 to 2021, he served as the art director of the publishing company. He has been engaged in editing and painting children’s books, serving as a magazine chief editor, and has been a professional picture book illustrator for over forty years. He has previously served as the editor-in-chief of the Children’s Story Pictorial and the director of the Art Editing Office at the publishing house.

Wang Zumin’s picture books have won numerous awards both domestically and internationally. He has been honored with the UNESCO “Japan Nomura Award,” selected for the 2016 Bologna International Children’s Illustration Exhibition, awarded the 33rd Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award, included in the 2021 thematic publishing project of the Publicity Department of CCPCC, and received the 2023 Bologna Best Picture Book Award. His works have been translated to many languages.
