Matilde Campilho was born in Lisbon in 1982. Between 2010 and 2013, she lived in Rio de Janeiro, and had poems published in the newspapers O Globo, A Folha de São Paulo, Suplemento Pernambuco, as well as several digital publications. Her book Jóquei was published in Portugal in 2013 and was nominated for the Casino da Povoa and Teixeira de Pascoaes literary awards. That same year she was invited poet at the Zeitkunst – International Festival for Contemporary Music and Literature, taking place between Berlin and Rio de Janeiro. In 2014, she entered Artes Vertentes – International Festival of Arts Tiradentes, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and published texts in the American magazine New Observations. In 2015, Jóquei was published in Brazil and Matilde was invited poet at Flip – Paraty International Literary Festival, also in Brazil. In October 2015, she published a short story in the Portuguese Granta.
