Biography
Luiz Ruffato was born in Minas Gerais, in Southwest Brazil. He has released ten books, among novels, poetry, chronicle and children’s literature. There Were Many Horses, published in 2001, is his most important title: it won the Machado de Assis Prize and is published in Italy, France, Portugal, Argentina, Colombia, Germany, Finland, USA and Macedonia. He also wrote De Mim já nem se Lembra (2007), Estive em Lisboa e Lembrei de Você (2009) and Flores Artificiais (2014). He was Distinguished Writer in Residence at the University of California – Berkeley, USA.
