Biography
Luísa Fortes da Cunha was born in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, in 1959. In 1987, she graduated in Physical Education at the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (FMH-UTL). With a Master’s in Sports Training Management from the FMH-UTL, she’s also a postgraduate in Special Education from the Universidade Lusófona. Author of several articles in her area of expertise, as well as on sports security for children, in 1990 she received a grant from the Council of Europe and trained at the Education, Culture and Sports Unit, in Strasbourg. As a writer of youth literature, she published 15 books (one more in press) of the Teodora series, very popular among young Portuguese readers. Teodora e o Segredo do Manuscrito Chinês takes place in Macau. Her books are translated to Lithuanian. Through the Camões Institute she has promoted Portuguese in several countries with Portuguese teachers, namely USA, Canada, Luxembourg, Mozambique and Australia.
