Jenny Lao-Phillips

Biography

Born in Macau, Jenny Oliveros Lao-Phillips is an academic and a writer. She currently works at the University of Saint Joseph where she has taught programmes in the area of management, marketing, entrepreneurship and literature. In addition, she has also taught English and Literature subjects at different higher institutions in Macau. Lao-Phillips holds a PhD in Business Administration, a Master of Arts in English Literature, an MBA in Management and a Bachelor degree in Tourism. She is also a Cantonese-English interpreter, a translator, a writer and a poet. Her first children’s novel The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac was published in 2006. Her poems, poetry translations and articles have appeared in Poesia Sino-Occidental, Poetry.com, The Drunken Boat, Poetry Sky, amongst others. She is currently writing a bi-weekly column “Made in Macao” in Macau Daily Times on the culture and traditions of Macau.
