FRANCISCO JOSÉ VIEGAS

Professor, journalist and publisher, Francisco José Viegas is the editor of Ler magazine and a former director of Grande Reportagem magazine and Casa Fernando Pessoa. From June 2011 to October 2012 he was Secretary of State for Culture of the Portuguese Government. His work includes books of poetry (Half of Life, The Pure and the Impure, If Love Moved Me) and the novels Far Away From Manaus (Grand Prize for Romance and Novel of the Portuguese Writers’ Association 2005) and The Light of Beijing (Fernando Namora Prize 2020 and PEN 2020 Narrative Prize).
