DAS PALAVRAS

DAS PALAVRAS

Biography

The performance “Das Palavras” premiered on World Poetry Day 2007, arising out of a commission from composer Rodrigo Leão, in collaboration with publisher Assírio Alvim, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the club Frágil. Over the next six years the performance was given multiple times across Portugal. Using texts by contemporary Portuguese poets (Sophia de Mello Breyner, Eugénio de Andrade, Alexandre O’Neill, Al Berto, Adília Lopes) it is presented in an audiovisual format in which the spoken word becomes the vehicle linking sound and image. The project was designed to promote the Portuguese language through a new experimental and multidisciplinary approach.

“Das Palavras” was written by Vera Paz and Bernardo Amorim, with video and light design by Bernardo Amorim, original music by Adriano Filipe and sound by Francisco Furtado.
